The McPherson Middle School cross country team took 16 runners to Clearwater on Thursday for their opening run of the 2019 season and came home with four mealists.

Both Keanna Sullivan and Analiese Bordayo earned medals for finishing 20th and 23rd respectively in the eighth-grade girls division, while Jaiden Strickland placed 13th to medal for the eighth-grade boys and Kayla Porter medaled for the seventh-grade girls when she placed 20th.

Earning four medal out of sixteen runners means 25% of the team came home with medals.

“The runners ran very well in the first meet of the year,” said Head Coach Nikolous Rempe. “Times were a little slower due to the heat, but all of them competed very well.”

Next up for the McPherson Middle School cross country team will be on Tuesday, September 10 when they travel to Hutchinson to run in the Hutchinson Prairie Hills Invitational.
