As easy as the first match felt, the second match was almost as difficult for the Smoky Valley volleyball team as they split a home triangular on Tuesday, beating the Wichita Defenders before losing to Nickerson.

Against the Wichita Defenders, the Lady Viking spikers controlled the straight set victory, scoring a 25-13 first set win before burying the Defenders 25-4 in set two.

Then came the match with Nickerson and Smoky Valley dropped the first set 14-25 before playing a touch better in set two before falling once again 17-25, giving the Lady Vikings a split for the days work.

Lady Viking Head Coach Sharlene Ramsey talked about the loss in her post-match reflections, saying, “Nickerson is a good team who will continue to attack the ball at every opportunity they can. We struggled to adequately serve receive which hurt our offensive game. We made a 4-5 point run in the Nickerson game which I though was going to help us recover, but the deficit kept growing. We just couldn’t quite turn the corner.”

The Lady Viking spikers will be back In action on Saturday, September 14 when they travel to Southeast of Saline.

Lady Viking Volleyball Results:

Against the Wichita Defenders (25-13, 25-4, Win)

Against Nickerson (14-25, 17-25, Loss)
