It was a rough day for the Canton/Galva junior high volleyball team as they dropped both matches with Centre at home on Thursday.

The ‘A’ team really struggled to get going in set one before making it more of a battle in set two while still losing in straight sets (9-25, 19-25) to Centre.

“Jordan Friesen led the way for the Junior Eagles today,” noted Head Coach Taylor Kaufman. “She had a great game and was all over the court. We played fairly error free and served it very well. Emma Herrera and Carley Schmidt also had a nearly error free night, but we just weren’t able to take advantage of the scoring opportunities we may have been getting.”

In the ‘B’ team match, the Junior Lady Eagles also lost in straight sets though no score was available.

Coach Kaufman concluded her post match reflections by saying, “The ‘B’ team lost in two sets as well, but Katy Prieb stepped up as a leader on the court and did her best to rally the girls when things were not going well, and make sure every play was appreciated.”

Next on the schedule for the Junior Lady Eagle spikers will be another home match on Thursday, September 19 when Moundridge comes to town.
