LITTLE RIVER – Unlike the ugly season opening road trip to Canton/Galva, the Little River football team was able to uncork the offense on Peabody/Burns and buried the Warriors 49-0.
Powered by junior Jayden Garrison scoring runs of 55 and 14 yards, the Redskins put 22 points on the board in the first quarter, with Graham Stephens adding another score when he returned an intercepted pass into the end zone.
Stephens added two more scores in the second quarter on runs of three and one yard, giving Little River a solid 37-0 advantage heading into the halftime break.
The Redskins then closed down the game early by point rule after Garrison rambled for a 52 yard score and then Stephens punched in another three yard score to give them the final 49-0 victory.
For the game, Garrison ran for 181 yards on just 10 carries while Stephens added another 63 on 11 runs. Brayden Sears, Stephens and Zane Kratzer led the Redskin defense.
Now 1-1 on the season, Little River will be back at home on Friday when they play host to Bennington, who will come it 2-0 for the season with wins over Moundridge and Wakefield.
