INMAN – The Inman High football team dropped to 0-2 on the season when they let the passing of Trinity Catholic get the best of them and despite winning much of the statistic battle, could not overcome the score on the board Friday in losing 22-14.

It was the Teutons that put the first score on the board in the first quarter, taking a 7-0 lead on a three-yard run by Jace Doerksen followed by an extra-point kick from Carter Brown.

Unfortunately, Inman could not handle the passing duo of Lucas Hammeke to Landon Gray as they connected for a 30-yard score late in the first quarter before adding a 57 yarder in the second stanza to take a 16-7 advantage into the halftime break.

While neither team managed to find the end zone in the third quarter, the combination of Hammeke to Gray once again found a way to score in the beginning of the final quarter of play. The Teutons added another score on a 10-yard pass from Doerksen to Kyler Konrade soon after and with the extra-point kick by Brown, pulled to within a touchdown at 22-14 but could not score again and took the loss.

It was a win in total offense for the Teutons as they managed to pick up 254 yards compared to 233 for Trinity.

Kolby Blank led Inman in rushing, picking up 64 yards on 13 carries, while Doerksen covered 43 yards on his 13 runs. Doerksen completed 10-of-21 for 96 yards with one interception, with Mason Carter being his top target pulling in three receptions for 39 yards.

On the defensive side, Blank led the way with six tackles, while Konrade and Grant Thimmesch each had five. As a team, the Teutons took down Trinity runners eight times for a loss of yardage.

Inman will look to pick up their first win of the season next Friday when they go on the road to tangle with Remington who is also 0-2 for the season and coming off a loss to Ell-Saline.
