LADY BULLPUP JV SPIKERS SPLIT TWO MATCHES!

The McPherson High junior varsity volleyball team split a pair of matches on Tuesday at home with El Dorado and Augusta.
It was two very close, hard fought sets for the Lady Pups against El Dorado before they prevailed, winning in straight sets (25-23, 25-23).
“The junior varsity came out prepared against a defensively sound El Dorado team,” noted Lady Bullpup JV coach Melissa Bradshaw. “We had a lot of team discussion after last week and we played mentally tough the entire match. Freshman Kelcy Bergstrom stepped in for a sick Megan Lulloff and played out of her mind. She led us in kills and aces. She was a vocal leader and fit right in.”
The day didn’t get any easier in the second match as the Lady Pups won set one before dropping sets two and three in losing to Augusta (25-19, 20-25, 24-26) in a nail biting, battle worthy match.
Coach Bradshaw concluded her reflections for the day by saying, “Against Augusta, we came right out with the same mindset. Set two started to get away from us early and we struggled mentally. I’m very proud of the way we fought back in set three after digging a deep hole. We need to continue to stay positive and mentally focused all the time. As always, Lexi (Kynaston) was our leader tonight. She works her tail off and keeps our team fighting. I am looking forward to seeing what we can do this weekend at the Goddard Eisenhower tournament.”
As Coach Bradshaw mentioned, the junior varsity Lady Pups will be on the court Saturday at the Goddard Eisenhower Tournament beginning at 8:00 a.m.
