STERLING – After having lost to Sterling College over the weekend, the Central Christian College volleyball team was looking for some payback when they went on the road Tuesday to Sterling only to get much the same treatment as before and suffered another straight set loss.

The Lady Warriors got off to a good start and the Lady Tigers made some errors early but battled back and forced set one into a 22-22 tie before the Lady Warriors would rattle off the final three points and score the 25-22 first set victory.

Hoping to refocus going into the second set, Central Christian and the Sterling would trade blows and the score was at a dead heat at 9-8 before the Lady Warriors found their grove and took 11 straight points to put them up 20-8. After getting a few more points, Sterling pounded out to a 25-13 win.

Much like set two, the third set was close at the beginning before Sterling won seven straight points to give them a sizable lead and the closest Central Christian made it after that was 24-15 before the Lady Warriors closed out the match for the night with a set three victory at 25-15.

While the Lady Tigers were once again on the wrong side of the win column, they made a much better showing against the Lady Warriors and Central Christian Head Coach Ryan Webb pointed that out in his post-match reflections by saying, “It may not show in wins and losses, but the girls have improved so much in a short period of time. They are adjusting to the system and showing that they can compete with any team. It’s a day-to-day process but we are getting closer to where we want to be. Now we reset as we prepare for a three-day road trip.”

Now 2-9 for the season, the Lady Tiger spikers were scheduled to play at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska on Wednesday.
