2 EAGLE HARRIERS MEDAL AT HERINGTON!

HERINGTON – The Canton/Galva cross country team took seven runners to Herington on Thursday and brought home two medals, including a second-place run for the Eagle boys.
Morgan Becker ran a time of 18:09 which was good enough to medal and finish second in the varsity boys 5K race. Asher Brown of Remington was the individual winner. Fellow Eagle, Christian Darrah also placed high enough to earn a medal by finishing tenth.
In the junior varsity boys race, Hayden Lance paced the Eagles by finishing sixth, while Ethan Unruh and Andrew Prieb finished eleventh and twenty-eighth respectively.
“Both of the varsity boys keep improving a little each week,” noted Eagle Head Coach Lyle Silsby. “It was great to see Christian (Darrah) break his personal record from last season. All their hard work in practice, and in the offseason is really showing and I know Morgan (Becker) is now determined to break his personal record from last season as well.”
Coach Silsby continued and talked about his junior varsity runners, adding, “Hayden (Lance) was hurt all of last season, and hadn’t run yet this season, so in his first official high school 5K race I would say he started off on the right foot. He is just a sophomore just like Morgan and Christian. Ethan (Unruh) broke his personal record with his run and his summer running program has really improved his strength and stamina from last year. These four are really a strong nucleus for the boys team and we just need another runner to step up and fill that fifth spot.”
Next up for the Eagle harriers will be on Thursday, September 26 when they run at Marion.
