CANTON – It took three sets before the Canton/Galva Middle School volleyball team lost a home match to cross county rival Moundridge on Thursday.
The Junior Lady Eagles dismantled the Junior Lady Wildcats in the first set, winning 25-14 before Moundridge bounced back and returned the favor in the second set beating Canton/Galva 12-25. That left the third set to decide a winner and it went down to the final points before the Junior Lady Wildcats beat the Junior Lady Eagles 14-16 for the match victory.
“We served relatively error free, but we did not capitalize on our opportunities again,” noted Canton/Galva Head Coach Taylor Kaufman. “Adi (Alcala) gave us scoring opportunities on every one of her serves, Jayden (Orth) and Carley (Schmidt) both only missed one serve on the night, which is very important because if you do not serve well you cannot score. Jordan (Friesen) recorded the first true block of the season.”
The Canton/Galva Middle School ‘B’ team did pick up their first win of the season by beating the Moundridge ‘B’ team 25-22, 25-18.
Next up for the Canton/Galva Middle School spikers will be on Thursday, September 26 when they travel to Wakefield while the Moundridge Middle School volleyball team will be on the road at Berean Academy for a triangular with Berean and Sedgwick.
