CANTON – When you need only 16 offensive plays to win a game, then you know you are on a roll and the Canton/Galva football team is rolling as they buried visiting Centre 48-0 in just two quarters of play due to the point rule for 8-Man football.

Seven of those 16 plays by the Eagles went for touchdowns with Landon Everett getting it started when he rambled into the end zone from 47 yards out early in the first quarter. Everett added another scoring run in the first quarter to go along with a touchdown pass to Tyson Struber and a run by Brayden Collins that landed him in the end zone as well. And this was all in the first quarter!

Everett added two more scoring runs and another scoring pass to Struber to close out the scoring and the game by halftime.

While Centre ran 33 offensive plays, they were only able to gain 46 total yards of positive gain, all of which came by air as the stingy Eagle defense held them to zero yards running on 25 carries. The Eagles finished with 306 yards in total offense.

For Canton/Galva, Everett covered 157 yards on just seven carries while Collins bulldozed for another 54 on just two carries. Everett only threw the ball seven times but completed six of those for 95 yards and the two scoring connections with Struber.

On defense, the Eagles sacked the Centre quarterback just once but stopped their runs eight times for loss of yardage. Brandon Huff and Mason Reedy led the defense with 8.5 and 7.5 tackles each.

Now 3-0 the Eagles will be on the road next Friday when they travel to Bennington who will be coming off a 51-6 loss to Little River and is 2-1 for the season.
