25 VIKINGS RUN AT CLAY CENTER!

CLAY CENTER – While team standings says they did not get much done, the Smoky Valley senior high and middle school cross country teams sent 25 runners to Clay Center on Tuesday to run at the Clay Center Invitational despite not running many of their first-line harriers.
The top producing Viking came in the Middle School seventh-grade girls division where Junior Lady Viking Sophia Fruits placed second by running a 13:46.53 in a two-mile run. Samuel Peterson ran a 12:50.11 for the two-mile in the eighth-grade boys division which was good enough for a sixth-place finish. The top Junior Lady Viking for the eighth-grade girls division was Kenzie Heline who ran a 14:55.59 two-mile to place tenth while Jackson VanFosson place twelfth in the sevent-grade boys division by running a 13:59.16.
For the Viking senior high runners, Neveda Acheson finished 37th for the Lady Vikings by running a 27:22.60 in her 5K run, while Logan Bodenhamer finished 55th for the Viking boys in running a 20:19.52.
Cayce Lindstrom was the lone Viking junior varsity runner for either boys and girls and he placed 14th with a 5K run of 19:56.67.
Next up for the Viking harriers will come on Thursday, October 3 when they head south for the 17-team Halstead Cross Country Invitational.
