LOST SPRINGS – While only one of five sets could be considered easy according to the scoreboard, the Canton/Galva battled and prevailed on the road Tuesday in Lost Springs as they made a clean sweep of matches with Centre and Elyria Christian.

After scoring a win in a dog fight first set with Elyria Christian (25-22), the Lady Eagles made what the scoreboard claimed easy work of the second set (25-9) to score a clean sweep of Elyria to begin the evening.

“We started off a little slow against Elyria,” explained Canton/Galva Head Coach Cloe Hedlund. “But we kept the serve game consistent and that helped us pull of the win.”

In a nail biting battle first set against host Centre, Canton/Galva lost by just a pair of points (23-25) before bouncing back to out play Centre in each of the final two sets (25-21, 25-20) to earn the match win and declare a sweep for the road trip.

“Centre is a strong and big hustle play team,” said Coach Hedlund as she concluded her reflections on the matches of the day. “They make it hard for teams to not get frustrated. We struggled in the first set to play as a unit and keep the ball on our side of the net. Once we started making our serves and keeping them, we could take time to set up our offense. Our key focus tonight was consistency and the players did that well the last two sets of the Centre game.”

The Lady Eagles will be back on the court on Saturday when they play host to the Canton/Galva Volleyball Tournament beginning at 8:30 a.m.
