INMAN – It was not the prettiest game to watch, but it was a physical one that the Inman football team unfortunately came out on the losing end of at home on Friday when Ell-Saline came to town and shut them out 14-0.

The visitors won scoring once in the first quarter on a 15-yard run and again in the final quarter of action on an 11-yard scamper. In between it was just a battle.

“It was a grind it out type of football game,” noted Teuton Head Coach Lance Sawyer. “This was the most physical an Inman team has played since I have been here.”

Overall, Ell-Saline outgained the Teutons 250-182 for the night, including a 223-103 advantage running the ball.

“Offensively we had opportunities but could not capitalize when we needed to,” added Coach Sawyer. “Our defense played phenomenal with Justin Schroeder leading the way at linebacker. I am so proud of the way our kids played, and we continue to get better every week.”

Individually for the Teutons, Jace Doerksen completed eight of fourteen passes for 79 yards and Kolby Blank ran for 51 yards on 11 carries to lead the stat sheet on the night. Derrick Johnson was Doerksen’s favorite receiver as he hauled in five passes for 68 yards.

With the loss the Teutons drop to 2-3 for the season as they prep to play next Friday on the road at Sublette. Sublette will come into the game 1-4 for the year and having lost a heartbreaker, 22-20 to Stanton County on Friday.
