NEWTON – The McPherson High cross-country team sent 15 runners to Newton on Saturday to run in the huge Newton Cross Country Invitational.

The Lady Bullpups had the top finisher with Courtney Eickbush placing 27th while Evie Elder wasn’t too far behind in 32nd place. For the Bullpup boys, Cody Achilles ended up placing 53rd.

“Overall the weather cleared just in time for us to run today,” noted Bullpup Head Coach Aspen Lott in her post run reflections. “With so many fast teams in this meet, we held pretty strong. However, our times were not where I was expecting us to be. We did have a couple of freshman boys who earned personal records. Hoping to get back to the level I know we can when compete at El Dorado.

Next up for the Bullpup harriers will be on Saturday when they run in the El Dorado Invitational.
