PEABODY – The Elyria Christian volleyball team closed out their 2019 regular season schedule on Tuesday at Peabody by earning a split with Little River and Peabody/Burns.
In the first match of the evening, the Lady Eagles tangled with host Peabody/Burns and took them down for a victory in straight sets (25-8, 25-19). Leading the team in digs was Lauren Aden with 13 while Merrick Robertson scored six kills and Ryland Hawkinson had four blocks.
The match with Little River did not go as well for the Lady Eagles as the Lady Redskins out dueled them for a straight set (13-25, 18-25) win, leaving Elyria with a split for the day despite Merrick Robertson scoring 10 digs.
It was pretty much the same for the Lady Eagle junior varsity as they handled Peabody/Burns in straight sets (25-11, 25-20) before going to the final points with Little River in both sets before losing (23-25, 23-25). Kathleen Rohaus had a superb day for the Elyria junior varsity by getting 12 digs in the first match and then coming back with eight digs and six aces against Little River.
Next for the Elyria volleyball team will be on Saturday, October 19 when they travel to Solomon for the WSL (Wheat State League) Tournament.
