GOESSEL – It was a rough road trip to Goessel on Thursday for the Canton/Galva junior high volleyball team as they lost both sets of a match with Goessel.

The Junior Lady Eagle spikers lost both sets by the identical score of 25-19, 25-19.

According to Junior Lady Eagle Head Coach Taylor Kaufman in her post match reflections, “We were down 2-12 in the first set and we are a bit like an 18-wheeler, can’t quite get the start we need then run our of time to catch up. We moved our feel well and played some of our best volleyball toward the end of the match. Finishing strong for the season we just need to get over the hump and get a win in a tough situation.”

Taking a moment to talk about a couple of key members of the Junior Lady Eagle team, Coach Kaufman concluded her reflections by adding, “Jordan Friesen led the way with one ace and her serves got us back into the first set. Since switching to libero, Adi Alcala has been everywhere on the court making crucial passes to put us into scoring positions.”

The Junior Lady Eagle volleyball team will close out their regular season next Thursday, October 17, at home when they tangle with Little River. The 2019 season will close on Monday, October 21 when the Junior Lady Eagles travel to Hope for the Wheat State League Junior High Volleyball Tournament.
