MOUNDRIDGE – It was a game that was all Wildcats from the opening kickoff as the Moundridge football team dismantled a short-handed St. John team at home Friday, winning by halftime, 56-0.

Not that it would have probably made a difference, but St. John did come into the game with only nine-players available. Even so, Moundridge hit the rout button on the opening kickoff when Jon Schlosser returned it 67 yards to the end zone for the first of eight touchdowns in the game for the Wildcats.

From that point on it was the Schlosser and Collin Kohl show as Schlosser added two more scores in the game on a returned interception and a 33-yard pass reception from Corbin Unruh, while Kohl ran for four touchdowns, all from at least 25 yards out, including scoring runs of 33, 25, 32, and 35 yards. Aaron Green also got into the end zone on an 11-yard run.

The Wildcats dominated the stat sheet as the offense gained 178 yards on just 16 plays, with 145 of that coming on the ground as their lone completed pass in the game came on the touchdown.

It was the Moundridge defense that made the game what it was as they held St. John to just 16 total yards on 32 plays of offense, that’s .5 yards per play. The Wildcats only gave up 5 positive yards on the ground on 24 carries as they made 11 tackles for loss of yardage.

Individually, Collin Kohl led the offense by picking up 129 yards on just six carries, thanks to those four scoring runs of over 25 yards each, while on defense Jon Schlosser had a huge game by getting in on 9.5 tackles, with eight of those solo and four being for a loss of yardage while also getting that pass interception that he returned for a score. Six other Wildcats recorded tackles for a loss of yardage, while Wyatt Falco had the lone quarterback sack.

With the victory the Wildcats have evened their season mark at 3-3 and will look to break the .500 mark next Friday when they play host to Central Plains who is 2-4 on the year and lost 46-0 to Pratt/Skyline on Friday.
