INMAN – Playing at home for just the third time this season, the Inman football team did not let down the crowd as their defense shutdown the visiting Meade offense while the Teuton offense ran by the visitors defense to score a 19-0 victory.

The victory was the second in a row for the Teutons and their fourth of their last five games.

Scoring once in each of the first three quarters, Inman put a score on the board in the first quarter on a 25-yard scoring pass from Jace Doerksen to Kendyn Blank and with the Carter Brown extra point kick, gave the Teutons an early 7-0 advantage.

In the second stanza, Mason Carter took a 15-yard pass from Doerksen into the end zone to give the Teutons a little breathing room with a 13-0 halftime lead.

Kolby Blank broke loose for a 51-yard scamper to the end zone in the third quarter to give Inman their final score of the game and the 19-0 win.

“I was impressed by our guys tonight,” noted Teuton Head Coach Lance Sawyer. “We were able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and we were able to get some blocking tonight from our running backs to break some long runs. Jace (Doerksen) had his best game of the year as he threw some really nice passes when we needed him to, and he had the block of the night which broke Kolby (Blank) free on his 51-yard touchdown run.”

It was the Teuton defense that made a big difference in the game as they held Meade to just 162 yards of total offense despite them running 64 plays.

“Our defense was phenomenal,” added Coach Sawyer during his post game reflections. “We had guys flying all over the field making tackles and our coverage was the best it has been only giving up one completed pass for the game. Carter (Brown), Justin (Schroeder), and Sam (Kleinherenbrink) all did some really nice things to lead the defense.”

Offensively the Teutons rolled up 350 yards on 48 plays which earned them 17 first downs. Jace Doerksen completed four of six passing for 66 yards and two scores while also rushing for 27 more.

Kolby Blank had the big night on offense with 12 carries for a solid 123 yards and the one long scoring scamper, while Justin Schroeder ran for 66 yards on just seven totes and Eli Leck ran for 33 on just a pair of carries. Kendyn Blank caught two of Doerksen’s passes, covering 55 yards in doing so.

Coach Sawyer concluded his reflections on the game by pointing toward the final regular season game next Friday, commenting, “We are excited to be back in the district championship next week with Sedgwick. Our guys are playing with a lot of confidence right now. It will be a fun match up.”

The Teutons will take their 4-3 season mark into next Fridays home game against unbeaten (7-0) Sedgwick.
