MOUNDRIDGE – For the second week in a row the Moundridge football team held dominated and steamrolled an opponent as they cut short their home game on Friday with Central Plains of Claflin by scoring a 56-8 take down victory.

While the Wildcats are now one game over .500 at 4-3, they have steamrolled their two most recent opponents to the tune of 112-8.

Korbin Wedel took a pass from Corbin Unruh and rambled into the end zone to open up the Wildcat scoring machine for the evening and after Unruh scampered in for a score from 47 yards out and Moundridge gave up a safety, the end of the first quarter found the Wildcats on top 12-2.

After Central Plains scored early in the second, it was all Moundridge as they put two more scores on the board with 48-yard run by Garrett Doherty and another run by Unruh, this time from 38 yards out. With the two-point conversions and a point adjustment made, the Wildcats took a commanding 30-8 advantage into the halftime break.

After Brady Helms took a 13-yard pass from Unruh in for a score in the early moments of the third quarter, Daniel Kaufman ran wild and scored three touchdowns on runs of 20, 2 and 24 yards to close out the Wildcat scoring and end the game on the 45 point rule due to holding a 56-8 lead.

For the evening, Unruh led the Wildcats with 181 yards in total offense on 94 yards rushing and 87 through the air while accounting for four touchdowns. Garrett Doherty and Daniel Kaufman had seemingly quite games rushing with five carries for 69 yards and six carries for 54 yards respectively. Korbin Wedel led the Wildcats in receiving by taking two passes for 43 yards and one score while Jon Schlosser had one reception that covered another 31 yards.

Defensively, Brady Helms totaled up eight tackles on the night while Schlosser had seven-and-a-half and Doherty had four-and-a-half.

Overall the Wildcats rolled up 328 yards in offense on 31 plays while Central Plains ran 46 plays on offense but totaled just 138 yards. Moundridge out rushed Central Plains 241-107 while having the ball for nearly eight minutes less than the visitors.

The Wildcats will close out the 2019 regular season next Friday when they make the short trip to play a powerhouse Little River team which is now 6-1 on the season after shutting out St. John, 31-0, on Friday.
