CANTON – The Canton/Galva Junior High volleyball team closed out their 2019 regular season with a lose to Little River.

The Junior Eagles gave the Junior Redskins a tough battle but still lost in straight sets (21-25, 17-25).

“We have had massive improvements over the past two weeks,” noted Junior Eagle Head Coach Taylor Kaufman. “We had 20-0f-22 serves playable and in bounds in the first set. Little River is a really good team and we did not let them get away from us. Jordan Friesen was an absolute monster at the net, played her best game so far in red and blue and has a very bright future. Great platform to make the jump to high school next year. Adi Alcala is making the libero position look easy.”

Coach Kaufman continued his post—match reflections by adding, “Yes, we lost but the girls have the right instincts. They are being brave and taking chances when the ball comes their way. They are making the plays they need to make to be successful, and they are finally taking the chances they get. We still need to make more chances, but I am confident they will find it on Monday.”

The Junior Eagle spikers will now close out their 2019 season by prepping to play Solomon in the first round of the Wheat State League Tournament in Hope on Monday.
