ROSE HILL – It was game that was rolling from the opening kickoff for the McPherson High junior varsity football team as they went on the road Monday to Rose Hill and buried the junior varsity Rockets 40-7.

After an Eli Pyle interception, Anthony Brooks found the end zone on a scoring run to give the Bullpups and early 6-0 advantage after they failed to make good on a two-point conversion.

Gus Ruddle then took a pass from Dylan Rinker and rambled into the end zone from 40 yards out, after which the two hooked up again for the two-point conversion and McPherson was now taking control with a 14-0 lead.

After a solid offensive drive down field, Rinker squirted into the end zone from one yard out to make the score now 20-0 in favor of the Bullpups.

Rinker then tossed his second scoring pass of the game in the third quarter on a 20-yard play to Pyle, giving the Bullpups a commanding 26-0 advantage.

When the Rockets fumbled the kickoff, the Bullpups Landon Vogts recovered the miscue which then set up a one-yard scoring plunge by Brooks, his second of the game. After Rinker connected with Pyle for the two-point conversion, McPherson was now up 34-0.

The final score of the game for the Bullpups came on Rinker’s third touchdown pass of the night, this time from five yards out to Brooks to give McPherson their final 40-7 victory.

The junior varsity Bullpups will close out their 2019 season next Monday when they double up with the freshman team to play host to Circle.
