LINDSBORG – A power running game gave the edge to the Smoky Valley football team on Friday as they hosted Rock Creek and scored a decisive 42-21 victory in their final regular season game of 2019.

The Vikings ran 55 offensive plays in the game, 50 of those were used running the ball where they powered over Rock Creek for 357 yards and five touchdowns.

Trey Kennedy led the power running attack for the Vikings by taking the ball 24 times and running for 145 yards while scoring twice from 59 and five yards out. Complimenting him in the backfield was Raleigh Wilson who carried the ball 21 times for 133 yards and scores from four and 34 yards out, while Andrew Peters only toted the pigskin four times but gained 78 yards, including a 60-yard run into the end zone.

Jake Lucas supplied the other score by tossing a 21-yard pass to Brandt Heble, as he only needed to try five passes on the evening, completing four for 49 yards.

While Rock Creek may have scored three touchdowns through the air, the Viking defense made stops when they needed to and held the visitors to just 278 yards in offense on 44 plays, 186 of those through the air. Six times the Viking defense stopped Rock Creek for a loss of yardage while Raleigh Wilson, Haven Lysell-Stewart and Andrew Peters led the defenders with six, five and four total tackles respectively.

With the win the Vikings end the 2019 season at 2-6.
