CANTON – Canton/Galva track standout, Tia Moddelmog, has put one thing to rest for the remaining time of her high school career – the worry about the future as the Lady Eagle star signed on Monday, November 4, to attend Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska and be member of their track and field team.

Moddelmog is planning to enter the pre-athletic training program they offer at Concordia. Moddelmog chose the school and field of interest due to her interest in sports.

“I liked the coaches, and the team is like a community,” noted Moddelmog as she reflected on her signing. “The team is really big, but all know each other and are like a family. The school and facility are very nice, and everyone is very friendly.”

Moddelmog concluded her reflections by referencing her hopes for her future at Concordia, saying, “My goals going into college athletics are to improve my marks in the women’s heptathlon and score for the team at the conference meets. My long-term goal is to qualify for the NAIA Nationals. Concordia has a nice indoor track facility, so several indoor meets will be at home, others are mainly at other schools in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.”

Other schools in the Great Plains Athletic Conference with Concordia University are Briar Cliff University, College of Saint Mary, Dakota Wesleyan University, Doane University, Dordt University, Hastings College, Midland University, Morningside College, Mount Marty College, Northwestern College and the University of Jamestown.
