INMAN – While the Cinderella story ended for the Inman football team in the state playoffs, the team was honored as eight Teutons earned spots on the post-season All-Heart of America Team.

Leading the honorees for the Teutons were juniors Carter Brown and Darien Dawes who were both named twice, with Brown earning first team as a linebacker and second team for his work as a kicker while Dawes was named first team as an offensive lineman and second team as a defensive lineman.

Brown led the Teutons in tackles from his spot at linebacker, making a total of 117 tackles including 37 of those being solo stops and three more were for loss of yardage. Brown also forced three fumbles on the season.

Dawes was a key blocker for 1,000-yard runner Kolby Blank on offense while collecting 66 tackles on defense, which included 13 solo stops and two fumble recoveries.

Two other Teutons were named to the first team as well with sophomore Jace Doerksen being named as a defensive back due to his 75 defensive stops which included 23 solo, two for loss of yardage and a pair of interceptions, while the other first teamer was junior punter Derick Johnson who also led Inman in receiving with 25 catches good for 311 yards.

Joining Brown and Dawes on the second team all-league team was Teuton senior running back Kolby Blank, a surprise to some that he wasn’t on the first team as he ran for 1,219 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season, including 263 yards in the game with Stanton County and a total of 456 over the final three games of the season.

Three Teutons garnered honorable mention including senior Justin Schroeder at linebacker where he racked up 101 total tackles with 20 of those solo, senior offensive lineman Jacob Koop and sophomore defensive back Kyler Konrade.

When you consider that the Teutons will return five of the eight all-league honorees next fall, including all four named to the first team, we can guess that Teuton Head Coach Lance Sawyer is already counting down the days to the beginning of the 2020 football season for Inman.
