INMAN – The Elyria Christian Junior High boys basketball teams may have gotten hammered in one game, they salvaged the other two and finished 2-1 on Monday in their season openers on the road at Inman.

The Junior Eagles ‘A’ team did not start the day off very well as the Junior Teutons hammered them 66-11 in the team’s season opener.

It was the Elyria Christina ‘B’ team that found first success in scoring a 34-19 victory before the ‘C’ team battled through five overtimes before scoring a 27-20 win and giving the Junior Eagles victory in two out of three games. Johnny Unruh led all scorers with seven points.

“It was a rough way to start for the ‘A’ team although we now know some things we need to work on,” commented Junior Eagle Head Coach DeAnn Huxman. “This is a great group of boys to work with, and I know they will continue to improve as the season goes along.”

The Junior Eagles will return to the court on Thursday when they travel to Rural Vista.
