INMAN – Monday marked the season opener for the Elyria Christian Junior High girls basketball teams as they dropped all three contests on the road at Inman.

In the Junior Lady Eagles ‘A’ game, Inman scored a 26-17 home victory despite Elyria Christian spreading the scoring around with Julia Allen and Kayla Peters each dropping in six points and Brooke Aden scoring four. The Junior Lady Eagles were only down by four points, 14-10, at the halftime break.

“We stayed with them until the fourth quarter,” noted Elyria Christian Head Coach Sarah Swenson during her post-game reflections. “That’s when Inman started running a full court press and scored a few quick baskets on us to take over the game. I was very happy with the effort on defense by our team as Addison (Swenson) and Kayla (Peters) had several steals and good stops against Inman’s top ball handlers. I saw a lot of potential in our team that excites me for the season ahead.”

While both the ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams also gave a valiant effort, the ‘B’ Junior Lady Eagles lost 29-17 despite six points from Jory Glendening and five by Makenna Case, while the ‘C’ team was beaten 17-10 as Savanna Dossett led the team with four points.

Next up for the Elyria Christian Junior Lady Eagles will be on Thursday when they travel to Rural Vista.
