BUSY HANDLING CENTRAL CHRISTIAN AND GOESSEL!

CANTON – The Canton/Galva Middle School basketball teams had a busy but very successful opening week of the 2019 season with games Monday against Central Christian and then on Thursday with Goessel.

Between the Junior Lady Eagles and the Junior Eagles, they finished 6-1 for the week while showing outstanding team work, especially for the Junior Eagles offensive work.

Brief Summary of all games involving the Junior Lady Eagles:

  • The Junior Lady Eagles ‘A’ team scored a tight 15-12 win over Central Christian on Monday with Katie Eagle and Emily Lance leading the offense with nine and four points respectively.
  • On Thursday, the Lady Eagles ‘A’ team were humbled by Goessel, losing 38-11.
  • On Monday the Junior Lady Eagle ‘B’ team also scored a win over Central Christian by a score of 26-12 with Jordan Elliot leading the team in scoring with 14 points.
  • Against Goessel on Thursday, there was no ‘B’ team game for the Junior Lady Eagles.

A brief summary of all games involving the Junior Eagle boys:

  • On Monday the Junior Eagle boy’s ‘A’ team showed resilience in scoring a very tight two-point, 39-37 win over Central Christian. Kaiden Wilson led Canton/Galva with 13 points while the team played as a team in recording 14 assists on their 16 made field goals in the game.
  • There was no Junior Eagle ‘B’ or ‘C’ game on Monday.
  • The Junior Eagles ‘A’ team dominated their game on Thursday with Goessel in scoring a 41-18 victory. In that game they once again showed tremendous team play by recording another solid 13 assists on the teams 17 made field goals.
  • It was a closer game for the Junior Eagles ‘B’ game against Goessel though they still came out with a victory, winning 19-14.
  • In a single half played ‘C’ game, the Junior Eagles made it 3-0 on the day with Goessel by earning a one-point, 9-8 win.

On Monday, the Canton/Galva Middle School hoopsters will close out their pre-Thanksgiving schedule with a trip to Wakefield.
