MANHATTAN – Despite being the second game in two days and being on the road, the McPherson Middle School girls’ basketball teams made the plays necessary to sweep both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ games from host Manhattan Eisenhower.

The seventh grade Junior Lady Pups will be back on the hardwood on Thursday when they travel north to tangle with Salina Lakewood.

7TH GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS ‘A’ TEAM WINS 35-13

In the seventh grade ‘A’ game, the Junior Lady Pups scored a decisive 35-13 victory as Addie Harlin led the team in scoring with 10.

“The girls did a fantastic job of making their shots count,” said Head Coach Melissa Wade. “Effort, enthusiasm, and execution were the three things that Coach Sanbo and I asked them to do before the game, nothing more or less. They came out and did just that.”

7th GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUP ‘A’ TEAM SCORING (35 total points): Addie Harlin – 10; Josie Fitzmorris – 7; Ellie Bower – 6; Cora Pavlovich – 5; Mallorie Cooper – 4; Izabel Backhus – 3.

7TH GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS GAIN 27-15 VICTORY

The seventh-grade Junior Lady Pups ‘B’ game played out in similar fashion as the ‘A’ game with McPherson scoring a 27-15 victory. Josie Fitzmorris hit double digits in the scorebook with 10 points while Ellie Bower contributed eight.

Coach Wade concluded her post-game reflections for the night by saying, “The girls came out and did a great job. They were a little nervous in the beginning, but got the nerves worked out by the second quarter. We asked the same of these girls as we did the girls in the first game and they came out and showed those three things – they played with effort, enthusiasm, and execution.”

7th GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUP ‘B’ TEAM SCORING (27 total points): Josie Fitzmorris – 10; Ellie Bower – 8; Amelia Smith – 3; Reese Buchman – 2; Kenzi Kaufman – 2; Adalyn Herrera – 2.
