MCPHERSON – It was a good way to get back into the game on Monday for the McPherson Middle School seventh-grade boys basketball ‘A’ team as they hosted Hesston and scored a commanding 43-19 victory. The Junior Pups did not have a ‘B’ game on Monday.

With the victory, the seventh-grade Junior Pup ‘A’ team remains unbeaten at 3-0 on the young season.

While seven Junior Pups put points in the scorebook, Hayden Hoxie and Ian Razak both scored in double digits with 12 and 11 points respectively.

“I am always nervous on how players will respond after a break from the normal routine,” explained seventh-grade Junior Pup Head Coach Tyler Brown. “I felt like our primary ball handlers did an outstanding job of moving the ball around on offense.”

Coach Brown continued by pointing out the play of the players, saying, “Between Gabe (Pyle) and Hayden (Hoxie) tonight’s game was filled with plenty of assists. Gabe, who is normally one of our top scorers typically was on full display tonight making players around him better which in the long run will make this team that much stronger.  Hayden had one of his most complete games tonight filling up multiple stat columns such as points, assists, steals and pass deflections. We even started to see more physical play from him which is excellent for the team. Ian (Razak) was on the receiving end of many of those great assists tonight and he did an excellent job of finishing at the rim. Bishop (Brown) was his usual self with his physical play as he managed to get another three-plus steals tonight along with grabbing a handful of rebounds. Bishop is one of the best at blocking out and rebounding as well. I could keep naming guys right down our roster – Carter Allen, Brody Seidl, Brenden Doile, the list goes on – that played well tonight. Every one of the boys came to the court today game ready.”

7th Grade Junior Pup ‘A’ team scoring (43 total points): Hayden Hoxie – 12; Ian Razak – 11; Bishop Brown – 6; Gabe Pyle – 4; Brody Seidl – 4; Brenden Doile – 3; Alec Harms – 3.

Next up for the seventh-grade Junior Pups will be on Thursday when they will once again be at home hosting Salina Lakewood.
