HOPP, LUTTIG EACH FINISH 5-0!

RILEY COUNTY – It was a rough opening of the 2019-20 season for the Smoky Valley wrestling team as they finished 1-4 on Saturday at the Riley County Falcon Duals.
The Viking grapplers lost in their first dual of the day, 48-30 to Clay Center before bouncing back to beat host Riley County 42-27. It was all a struggle in the final three duals of the day as Smoky Valley lost to Topeka Seamon 54-30, Andover 65-15, and Larned 63-15.
Having six open weight divisions did not help the Viking scores and overshadowed an outstanding performance from both Dax Hopp at 182 and Tanner Luttig at 195. Both Hopp and Luttig finished the day 5-0 with Hopp earning four wins by a fall while Luttig scored three falls as part of his daily record.
Next up for the Smoky Valley wrestlers will be on Thursday, December 12, when they roll down the road a few miles to McPherson to tangle with McPherson and Chapman in a double dual.
