MAIZE SOUTH – After the ‘A’ team was humbled, the McPherson Middle School seventh-grade girls ‘B’ team scored a low scoring victory to earn the seventh-grade Junior Lady Pups a split of two road games on Monday at Maize South.
7th GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS ‘A’ TEAM IS HUMBLED:
The Maize South defense was intense which in turn kept the Junior Lady Pups ‘A’ team offense from ever getting untracked and giving Maize South a dominating 46-15 victory.
The only Junior Lady Pup to score more than a pair of points was Cora Pavlovich as she put seven points on the board for the game.
Seventh-grade Junior Lady Pup Head Coach Melissa Wade was short a precise with her post game ‘A’ team reflections, saying, “Maize South played great defense and kept us away from the basket. We struggled tonight with keeping the ball and getting back down the court quick enough to defend them. With little practice over the past couple of weeks, we all look forward to working out some kinks the rest of this week.”
7TH GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS ‘B’ TEAM GAIN LOW SCORING VICTORY:
It what became a defensive dominant game, the seventh grade Junior Lady Pups ‘B’ team earned a tough, low scoring victory, 22-18 over host Maize South on the road on Monday.
Despite the low score, seven Junior Lady Pups put points in the scorebook, led by Addie Harlin with eight.
“Like the ‘A’ game, Maize South once again had good defense in the ‘B’ game,” noted Coach Wade. “Our girls were able to take the ball away from them and go down court to score points in the first half of the game. Our defense was pretty solid as well. In the second half we struggled a bit more, but we maintained the lead to pull out the win.”
