INMAN – It was a big team win for the Inman boys basketball team on Friday as they put the hammer on visiting Kingman with a 59-34 victory.

With the win the Teutons will close out their pre-Christmas part of the 2019-20 schedule with a record of 4-1.

Inman jumped out to an early nine-point, 13-4, lead by the end of the first quarter. Kingman nipped Inman by a point, 13-12, during the second quarter though it still left the Teutons holding an eight-point, 25-17, advantage as they went to the halftime break.

The Teutons came out strong in the second half, pulling out to a 14-point, 40-26, lead after the third quarter before crushing Kingman with 19 points in the final eight minutes of play to earn the 25-point, 59-34 win.

“Another big win for this young team tonight,” noted Teuton Head Coach Brett Froese during his post-game reflections. “We came out tonight and really set the tone early, especially on the defensive end. I thought we really guarded the ball well though Kingman has some good athletes and they are well coached. In the second half we kind of went on a run in the middle of the third quarter and kind of opened it up as we really attacked their full court pressure well and made them pay on the other end.”

Three Teutons led the offense as both Jace Doerksen and Derick Johnson dropped in 15 points for the night while Kolby Blank was right behind them as he hit for 14.

Coach Froese concluded his reflections by saying, “This team is growing up a little faster than I anticipated. They play so hard and are so fun to coach, this was a great win for us just before the Christmas break. Kolby Blank had an outstanding game for us and I’m so proud of him as he has kind of waited his turn the last couple of years while having a great attitude about it.”

The Lady Teutons did not play on Friday.

Inman will now be off the schedule for a little over two weeks before getting back on the competitive hardwood on Tuesday, January 7, when both the Teuton boys and Lady Teutons will travel east to battle with Berean Academy.

TEUTON BOYS INDIVIDUAL SCORING (59 total points): Jace Doerksen – 15; Derick Johnson – 15; Kolby Blank – 14; Kyler Konrade – 6; Mason Carter – 3; Kendyn Blank – 2; Eli Brunk – 2; Nick Martisko – 2. Three-pointers Made (5): Derick Johnson – 2; Jace Doerksen – 1; Kyler Konrade – 1; Kolby Blank – 1.
