KAUFMAN, EICHELBERGER TOP SCORING!

OXFORD – The Moundridge girls basketball team began their 2020 half of the schedule with an impressive 17-point, 44-27 victory over Oxford on the road on Friday.

After holding just, a slim 3-point, 6-3 advantage at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats put 16 points on the scoreboard in the second stanza to go into the halftime break with a commanding 16-point, 22-6 lead.

While they pushed their lead out to 21 points at 33-12 at the end of the third period, Moundridge put it in cruise in the final quarter to gain the 17-point final victory.

For the game, the Lady Wildcats only had four players put points in the scorebook with Kate Eichelberger and Kourtney Kaufman dominating the offensive output with 16 points each. Erin Durst just missed double digits with nine.

“We started off the game with a lot of unforced errors,” explained Lady Wildcat Head Coach Vicky Kessler in her post-game comments. “We finally settled in by the beginning of the second quarter when we took off on the offensive end by scoring 16. Our defense was in control most of the game and I was pleased with their effort.”
