LITTLE RIVER – The Little River girls basketball team got back on the winning track in a huge way on Tuesday as they literally crushed visiting Peabody/Burns during a 60-12 home court victory.

It was all Lady Redskins from the opening tip as they jumped out to a commanding 20-2 lead after the first eight minutes of play before crushing the visitors offense in the second eight minutes of action by holding them scoreless while Little River poured in another 21 points to hold a whopping 41-2 advantage at the halftime break.

After extending the lead out to 57-10 by the end of the third quarter, the Lady Redskins pulled up on the throttle and cruised in for the 48-point win.

“It was good to get a win back under our belts tonight,” noted Lady Redskin Head Coach Trey Look as he voiced his game reflections. “We played tremendous team defense which led us to executing and hitting shots. I thought Morgan Konen and Danielle Gadberry did an excellent job in defending their best player tonight. We were able to force them into tough shots which in turn led to us getting some easy buckets in transition. We had our best game in limiting our turnovers, sharing the ball and using our size and depth to score inside. Proud of this team as we will continue to work hard and get better each day.”

Leading the way for the Lady Redskins was Lily Boughfman who had a huge game by getting a double-double in scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Emma McBride also had an all around solid night with 14 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Also hitting for double digits in the scorebook were Mackinze Barta and Riley Bruce who each chipped in with 10 points apiece.

With the victory, the Little River girls have now evened their season record at 4-4. They prep to go on the road on Friday to play Elyria Christian.
