A WINTER REMINDER ON DRIVING SPEED!!
Traffic Stop Tuesday Postings are presented by the McPherson Police Department
As winter continues, temperatures will continue to drop. With this, the risk of slick spots from ice and snow on the roadways increases.
We would like to remind everyone to help avoid accidents by doing the following:
- To add a few extra minutes to your drive time.
- Decrease your speed.
- Brake early.
In summary, Standard Traffic Ordinance (STO) Sec. 32, which is the Basic Speed Rule States:
“No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions which exist. Every person shall drive at a safe speed when approaching intersections, crosswalks, railroad grade crossings, curves, hill crests, narrow roadways, and special hazards such as pedestrians, traffic and weather conditions.”
As always, our desire is to help increase safety and reduce the number of accidents on our roadways.
This winter remember to allow yourself extra time driving, slow down, and brake early!
