HUTCHINSON – The McPherson Middle School seventh-grade girls basketball teams closed out their 2019-20 season with a split of two games on Thursday in Hutchinson.

In the ‘A’ team, the Junior Lady Pups could not get the offense going and lost by 23, 43-20.

Ellie Bower and Cora Pavlovich led the ‘A’ team in scoring with five and four points respectively.

“Hutchinson had two really good players,” noted 7th grade Junior Lady Pup Head Coach Matt Sandbo. “The girls played hard and competed. They finished the year strong and played really well at times later on in the season.”

The seventh-grade Junior Lady Pups ‘B’ team closed out their season on an up note as they scored a 13-point, 30-17 road victory over Hutchinson.

Seventh-grade Junior Lady Pup Head Coach Matt Sandbo concluded his game and season reflections by commenting on the ‘B’ team’s Thursday performance, saying, “They played aggressive and did a good job getting to the basket. All of these girls improved throughout the year and played a lot of basketball.”

7TH GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS ‘B’ TEAM INDIVIDAUL SCORING (30 total points): Addie Harlin – 15; Reese Buchman – 7; Izabel Backhus – 2; Josie Fitzmorris – 2; Angelica Pena – 2; Amelia Smith – 2.
