LOST SPRINGS – The Canton/Galva junior high boys ‘A’ basketball team remained unbeaten for the season at 9-0 on Thursday when they used a strong second half to dismantled Centre 51-20 on the road in Lost Springs.

While the Junior Eagles held an eight-point, 15-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter, Centre nipped two points off the lead to leave Canton/Galva with only a six-point, 23-17 lead going into the halftime break.

When Canton/Galva came out in the third period they put the defensive clamps down on Centre and help the host team to just three, third-quarter points while putting 14 on the board to take a more commanding 37-20 lead into the final quarter of play. In the final period the Junior Eagles literally shutout the Centre offense while adding 14 more points in their own scorebook to take the decisive 31-point victory.

With the ‘A’ team roster playing short three players due to illness, including normal starter Jordan Duncan, Wyatt Collins and Jaden Ediger took it upon themselves to provide the Junior Eagle offense and that they did as Collins connected on nine two-pointers and three free throws to finish the game with 21 points while Ediger used four three-pointers to get 14 points penciled in by his name in the scorebook. Lane McMannis just missed double digits with nine.

The Junior Eagle ‘B’ team struggled a bit and lost by 14, 30-16 as Noah Collins and Garrett Silsby led the team with five points each.

In the Canton/Galva ‘C’ game, they only played one half and came away with a 16-8 win. Silsby and Gannon Evans topped the scoring with four points each.
