MOUNDRIDGE – An early lead by Inman proved to be unsurmountable for the Moundridge girls basketball team on Tuesday as they lost by 10, 49-39 in a rescheduled cross-county rivalry game.

The Lady Wildcats found themselves down by four, 12-8, at the end of the first quarter before suffering an offensive drought in the second quarter and falling behind to the Lady Teutons by 13 at 25-12 heading into the halftime break.

While Moundridge pulled back within nine by the end of the third quarter by finding some offense to score 17 third quarter points, the Lady Wildcats just could not over come the early deficit and ended up losing by 10.

“It was a hard fought game,” noted Lady Wildcat Head Coach Vicky Kessler in her post-game reflections. “We really struggled in the second quarter to put the ball in the basket and went in at halftime down by 13 points. We clawed our way back in the beginning of the third quarter and got within six. Then Inman made a couple of baskets. I was proud of the girls for working hard the whole game.”

Kate Eichelberger led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points while Emily Durst hit for eight and Kourtney Kaufman scored seven. Seven Lady Wildcats put at least three points by their name in the scorebook.

With loss the Lady Wildcats drop to 6-4 for the season as they prep for a road trip on Friday to Goessel.
