3 VIKING GRAPPLERS EARN 2ND PLACE!

NICKERSON – The Smoky Valley wrestling team had six wrestlers recently compete in Nickerson at the Nickerson Junior Varsity/Girls Wrestling Tournament.

Austin Sharp by far had the best day for the Vikings as he finished unbeaten and took first place at 160 pounds.

Three other Smoky Valley wrestlers took second place including the Lady Viking’s Haley Phillips wrestling at 170 pounds as well as Richard Zeller and Justin Holt competing at 160 and 182 pounds respectively.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE VIKING WRESTLERS?

On Friday, January 24 the Viking varsity wrestling team will be competing at Nickerson while the Viking junior varsity wrestlers will be off until Saturday, February 1 when they have a meet at Marion.

SMOKY VALLEY VIKING WRESTLERS INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:

LADY VIKING:

Haley Phillips finished 0-2 and placed 2nd at 170 lbs.

VIKING BOYS:

Clayton Douglas finished 0-5 and placed 6th at 126 lbs.

Austin Sharp finished 5-0 and placed 1st at 160 lbs.

Richard Zeller finished 3-2 and placed 2nd at 160 lbs.

Justin Holt finished 4-1 and placed 2nd at 182 lbs.

Alex Grosland finished 0-4 and placed 7th at 220 lbs.
