PYLE, HOXIE TOP JUNIOR PUP SCORING!

By William

MAIZE – It was a successful road trip on Thursday for the McPherson Middle School seventh-grade boys basketball teams as both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams scored wins over Maize South.

‘A’ TEAM WINS BY 45!

In a game that was never in doubt from the opening tip, the seventh-grade Junior Pups ‘A’ team dismantled Maize South to the tune of a 45-point, 49-4 victory, leaving the ‘A’ team at 8-1 for the season.

The Junior Pups dominated the game to the point where they held an 18-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched it out to 33-points at 33-0 at the halftime break. Maize South didn’t score their first points in the game to in the third quarter.

While Gabe Pyle led the Junior Pups with a game high 18 points, Hayden Hoxie chipped in with 10 and a total of nine Junior Pups put at least two points on the board in the ‘A’ team game.

“It was nice to bounce back after our loss to Hutchinson,” noted seventh-grade Junior Pup Head Coach Tyler Brown. “We pretty much were able to do what we wanted all four quarters.”

‘B’ TEAM SCORES 30-24 VICTORY!

It was a much closer game in the seventh-grade Junior Pups ‘B’ game as they won by six, 30-24.

Five Junior Pups put points in the scorebook, led by Alex Harms and Brenden Doile who each scored eight.

“I felt like our ‘B’ team played great tonight in what was our first close win of the season,” explained ‘B’ team Coach Paul Reichenberger in his post-game reflections. “Brenden (Doile) came out hot in the first quarter hitting several mid-range jumpers and Alex (Harms) had a great third quarter by attacking the basket. But at the end of the game when it mattered most, Brody (Seidl) was clutch with a key steal and layup. Lately, Brody has brought some really great leadership to the ‘B’ team and I was pleased to see the team rally around his energy tonight and get a win at Maize South.”
