BURRTON – They hung tough for two quarters, but it was not enough as the Little River boy’s basketball team felt the power of unbeaten Berean Academy on Saturday in the championship game of the Burrton Invitational and lost by 25, 68-43.

The first quarter is one of those two periods that Little River hung tough with the Warriors as they only trailed by one, 15-14, heading into the second quarter. Unfortunately, Berean Academy’s offense broke loose in the second eight minutes of play by pouring in 23 points while holding the Redskins to just seven, giving the Warriors a sizable 17-point, 38-21 advantage as the two teams walked the hallway to the halftime break.

Little River outscored Berean Academy, 12-10, in the third quarter before the Warriors doubled up the Redskins in the final eight minutes of play, 20-10, to take the final 25-points victory, leaving the Redskins with a second-place finish at the Burrton Invitational.

While both teams shot well overall from the field, the Warriors took 11 more shots total and made 12 more overall than the Redskins while dominating in under the glass by pulling down 34 rebounds to the Redskins 11.

Once again, Jayden Garrison was the power to any Little River offense as he poured in 28 points for the evening, including hitting five three-pointers. Trey Rolfs just missed double digits in the scorebook by chipping in with nine.

With the loss on Saturday, the Redskins drop to 9-3 for the season as they get ready for the final four weeks of the 2019-20 season. The Redskins will return to the competitive court on Tuesday, February 4 when they travel to Herington.
