The MAC Wrestling Club had a busy weekend as 19 wrestlers went to the mat at two separate tournaments with 15 competing in Salina while four wrestled in Newton.

At the Salina Tournament of Champions held at the Tony’s Pizza Center on Saturday, 15 MAC Wrestlers went to the mat in a tournament that had over 1,100 entries from several states.

Cooper Reves had the best finish for MAC as he took third in the 12-under, 100 lbs. division while Landon Thompson too fifth at 14-under, 135 lbs.

In Newton at the Newton Novice Wrestling Tournament, all four wrestlers from MAC placed in top four of their divisions with Banks Baldwin and Trace Dearing both placing second in their divisions.


SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1 – Some of the MAC Wrestlers will be competing at the ‘Battle of the Belt’ Open/Novice Tournament at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane. This is an event where the winners earn a wrestling Champion Belt and will have wrestlers from several surrounding states competing.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1 – Some of the MAC Wrestlers will be competing in the Greg Grater Classic to be held at Clay Center Community High School in Clay Center.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22 – The MAC Wrestling Club will be hosting an invitational at Canton/Galva High School in Canton.

SUNDAY, MARCH 1 – The MAC Wrestling Club will be hosting the ‘War of the Roses’ Women’s Tournament at the Ed Pyle Sports Complex on the campus of Central Christian College in McPherson.

On Saturday at the Salina Tournament of Champions:

Cooper Reves finished 3rd at 12-under, 100 lbs.

Landon Thompson finished 5th at 14-under, 135 lbs.

Jaxon Carlson finished 6th at 6-under, 55 lbs.

Colt Harlin finished 6th at 10-under, 100 lbs.

Julian Glover finished 6th at 12-under, 88 lbs.

Also participating in Salina were Reid Weber, Liam Krehbiel, Parker Hulvey, Rette Krehbiel, Noah Garcia, Jaxon Chrislip, Aiden Smith, Brayden Senecal, Christian Clemmons, and Eli Farley.

On Saturday at the Newton Novice Wrestling Tournament:

Banks Baldwin finished 2nd at 6-under, HWT.

Trace Dearing finished 2nd at 8-under, 46 lbs.

Khylen Sanderson finished 4th at 6-under, 49 lbs.

Eli Brown finished 4th at 8-under, 49 lbs.
