HERINGTON – Despite poor shooting the Little River girls basketball team hung in for three quarters before faltering in the final eight minutes to end up losing on the road Tuesday, 42-29, at Herington.

The two teams played to an 8-8 tie at the end of the first quarter and Herington took a slim two-point, 15-13 lead over the Lady Redskins heading into halftime.

After the break, the Lady Redskins had their best eight minutes of the night by scoring 12 and holding the host team to just eight to give them a two-point, 25-23 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, Little River faltered in the final eight minutes and were only able to muster four points while Herington’s offense found some power and poured in 19 to give them the final 13-point victory.

For the game the Lady Redskins shot but 24% from the field while Herington connected on 36% of their attempts, and it wasn’t any better at the free throw line where Little River only hit on two-of-ten attempts.

Emma McBride had a solid overall game for the Lady Redskins, leading the team in scoring with 15 by making two of the teams three three-pointers plus pulling down six rebounds and making three steals on defense.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE LADY REDSKINS? With the loss the Lady Redskins now drop to .500 for the season at 6-6. Little River will be back on the hardwood on Friday when they play host to Goessel.
