EDIGER SCORES 10, PLAY GOESSEL NEXT!
CANTON – The Canton/Galva Junior High boys’ basketball team got by the first round of the Wheat State Junior High League Tournament on Thursday by beating Peabody/Burns 26-19.
After the Junior Eagles took a three-point, 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, Peabody/Burns turned the tables around and outscored Canton/Galva in the second stanza 6-2 to take a slim one-point, 9-8 advantage into the halftime break.
The Junior Eagles came out in the third and held Peabody/Burns to just two points while scoring eight to take a 16-11 lead into the final quarter of play where they held on for the seven-point victory.
Jaden Ediger led the Junior Eagles in scoring with 10 while Jordan Duncan chipped in with six. Both Ediger and Duncan hit for a pair of three-pointers to highlight the game.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE JUNIOR EAGLES? Remaining unbeaten at 10-0 for the season, the Canton/Galva Junior Eagles will now play Goessel in the second round of the Wheat State Junior High Tournament on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. in the Canton/Galva high school gym. If the Junior Eagles win, they will play again at 4:45 p.m. for the League Championship against the winner of the game between Solomon and Elyria Christian.
