ROLFS, LAFFERTY TOP REDSKIN SCORERS!
LITTLE RIVER – Despite not having all-state Jayden Garrison available on Tuesday, the Little River boys’ basketball team still had enough power on the court to roll past Wakefield by 26 points for a 43-17 victory at home.
The Redskins jumped out to an early 10-point lead at 16-6 by the end of the first quarter before taking a 23-9 advantage into the halftime break. While holding the visitors to just eight points in the final two quarters, Little River rolled up another 20 to earn the 26-point win.
Little River got the victory despite taking just 22 shots on the night as they connected on 50% of them, including four three-pointers, while Wakefield only took 26 shots in the game, making just seven. The big advantage in the team stats came at the free throw line where the Redskins took 20 shots from the charity stripe to just five for Wakefield, making 17 of them as Wakefield was whistled for 18 fouls on the evening.
Trey Rolfs led the Redskins in scoring as he scored 18, one more point than the whole Wakefield team did. Freshman Braxton Lafferty continued to have a solid season as he also hit for double digits with 11. Freshman Dalton Mantz started the game in place of Garrison and hit a pair of clutch three-pointers.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE LITTLE RIVER REDSKINS? With the victory the Redskins are now 13-3 for the season as they continue to run through a very busy week as they play at home on Thursday in a makeup game with Centre before going on the road Friday to play Solomon.
