ROLFS SCORES 26!
LITTLE RIVER – Despite still playing without Jayden Garrison, their all-state player, the Little River boys basketball team dominated Centre on Thursday in a home makeup game, winning 41-24.
The victory was the fifth in a row for the Redskins and the third win just this week.
After holding just a one-point, 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, Little River poured in 21 points in the second eight minutes of play while holding the visitors to just three, giving the Redskins a commanding 31-12 advantage as the teams went to the halftime break.
Neither team were able to score a single point in third quarter before Centre managed to clip a couple of points off the lead in the final eight minutes of action giving Little River the 17-point win.
With Jayden Garrison still out with an illness, it was Trey Rolfs who took over the Redskin offense as he put 26 points by his name in the scorebook, helped by connecting on six of ten shots from beyond the three-point line. Rolfs just missed a double-double for the evening as he grabbed nine rebounds, including six coming off the offensive boards to give the Redskins second chance point opportunities. On defense, Rolfs also recorded three blocked shots. Braxton Lafferty and Keaton Richardson each had quick hands with both dishing out three assists while on offense and then each recorded three steals on defense. Overall the Little River defense forced Centre into 16 turnovers while only turning the ball over seven times themselves.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE LITTLE RIVER REDSKINS? With the victory Little River is now 14-3 for the season as they close out a very busy week with a road trip on Friday to Solomon.
