SOLOMON – For the fourth time this week and the six game in a row, the Little River boys’ basketball team scored a commanding win on Friday, this time they dismantled Solomon on the road, 68-45.

Solomon played the Redskins close in the first quarter, only trailing 10-6 heading into the second period where the Redskins put 20 points on the scoreboard to the home teams 11, giving them a comfortable 30-16 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Coming out of the break both teams turned the offense up in the third quarter as Little River poured in 27 points while Solomon added 18 to their total which still gave the Redskins a commanding 57-35 lead heading into the final quarter of action. Little River cruised on in for the final 23-point victory.

Both teams had solid control of their offenses as Little River connected on 46% of their shots from the field while Solomon connected at a 45% clip. The big difference between the two teams on the stat sheet and the scoreboard came at the free throw line where the Redskins made 17 of their 28 attempts while Solomon only made three free throws on just seven tries, much due to Solomon committing 21 fouls while Little River was only whistled for 13. On defense, the Redskins forced Solomon into making 16 turnovers while only giving the ball up seven times themselves.

The Redskins offense was headed up by the four headed gang of Braxton Lafferty who scored 19, Ryland Konen who put 17 on the scoreboard, Jayden Garrison, who was finally back on the court after missing a couple of games due to illness, scoring 16 and Trey Rolfs who chipped in with 11.

Little River pulled down 30 rebounds in the game which included a whopping 16 offensive grabs which lead to many second chance scoring opportunities. Rolfs led the team on the boards with eight while Garrison and Konen pulled down seven and six respectively.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE LITTLE RIVER REDSKINS? The victory raises the season mark for the Little River boys to a sparkling 14-3. After a very busy week they get a couple of days to rest and prep before returning to the competitive hardwood on Tuesday with a home game against Pawnee Heights.
