MCPHERSON – According to reports the McPherson Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) have arrested a 33-year old McPherson woman in connection with the death of a man found in his home in McPherson on Monday, February 24.

It is being reported in a press release that Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has said that 33-year old Tina Nicole Brown of McPherson as been arrested and will be facing charges that include first-degree felony murder in the death of 63-year old Kelly G. Peterson.

Schmidt is saying that charges will also include one count of felony mistreatment of an elderly person and one count of misdemeanor battery of a law enforcement officer.

Court documents allege that Brown inflicted an injury on Peterson, and that the elder abuse killed him. Brown is also charged with battery of a law enforcement office as the complaint alleges that Brown caused ‘physical contact’ with McPherson Police Chief Mikel Golden ‘in a rude, insulting, or angry manner.’

According to McPherson County Jail inmate records, Brown was arrested on Monday and remains jailed on Wednesday evening with a bond that is set at $500,000.

Schmidt said the attorney general’s office is prosecuting the case at the request of the McPherson County Attorney’s office.

In addition, records with the Kansas Department of Corrections show that Brown has had nine prior convictions in Reno County that all come from a 2013 case and include aggravated assault, burglary, robbery, criminal threat and drug charges. Around that same time period of 2013, Brown was one of several offenders apprehended with the help of Dog the Bounty Hunter.
