SEASON ENDS AT SUB-STATE!

INMAN – The Inman girls basketball team hung tough with Hutchinson Trinity Catholic for three quarters before stumbling in the final eight minutes of play and losing 43-33 in their Class 2A sub-state semifinal matchup on Thursday in Inman. Trinity will now move on to play number-one seed Sterling on Saturday for the opportunity to play in the Class 2A state tournament.
WHAT’S THIS MEAN FOR THE LADY TEUTONS? The loss means the Lady Teutons 2019-20 season is over and they will close it out with a final record of 14-7. For the second time this season they lost to Trinity as Trinity beat Inman 39-27 on Valentine’s Day. With the loss it also means the final game has been played by four core members of the Inman team as Ashtyn Schroeder, Lauren Maurer, Rachel Harman and Emma Froese have now finished their Lady Teuton careers.
THE GAME – After falling behind by eight at 13-5 by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Teutons turned the tables on the scoreboard and outscored Trinity 12-4 in the second quarter to go into the halftime break tied at 17-17. Both teams played near even in the third quarter and the Lady Teutons went into the final eight minutes of play trailing by just one point, 29-28. Unfortunately, Trinity put 14 points on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter while holding the Lady Teutons to just five, giving Trinity the final 10-point victory.
HOW DID THE LADY TEUTONS PERFORM? Seven Lady Teutons put points on the scoreboard against Trinity with Lauren Maurer leading the way with eight while Reagan Brake, Dantlie Raney, and Rachel Harman each chipped in with six. Ashtyn Schroeder had the lone three-pointer for Inman while Trinity connected on six from beyond the arc. The Lady Teutons committed 19 personal fouls with most of those coming in the fourth quarter when Trinity made nine-of-sixteen free throws to secure their victory.
