WEARING SEAT BELTS!
Traffic Stop Tuesday Postings are presented by the McPherson Police Department
This Tuesday they are talking about ‘SEAT BELTS’.
In this week’s TRAFFIC STOP TUESDAY, we will discuss WEARING SEAT BELTS!
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates, we are statistically safer when we wear our seat belt while driving and riding in a motor vehicle.
Front seat occupants of a vehicle who buckle up can reduce their risk of moderate to critical injury by 50% and fatal injuries by 45%.
Standard Traffic Ordinance (STO) Sec. 182.1 regarding SEAT BELTS states:
- Each occupant of either a passenger car manufactured with safety belts in compliance with federal motor vehicle standards or an autocycle, who is 14 years of age or older, shall have a safety belt properly fastened about such person’s body at all times when the passenger car is in motion.
- For children under the age of 14, please refer to our most recent Traffic Stop Tuesday.
PLEASE BUCKLE UP, not only because it’s the LAW IN KANSAS but for YOUR OWN SAFETY!!
YOUR SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE CONCERN, we do not want you to become another statistic.
According to NHTSA, seat belts saved approximately 14,955 lives nationwide in 2017!!
SAFETY IS ONE OF THE EASIEST CHOICES to make when driving.
WHAT CHOICE WILL YOU MAKE??
